LowePro provides an expansion system for its bags – so called SlipLock loops – which quite a selection of lens cases or pouches which can be additionally attached to the bags. Surprisingly, there is no attachment available for a tripod, even a small one. So after some searchers, I came with a very simple way of doing it.
I have a Gorillapod tripod which I often carry with me on a short walks - it is small light and sufficiently sturdy to hold a DSLR. I use it with light monopod head for easy camera attachment.

So I attached a spare release plate to a strap, and this strap to a SlipLock loop on the Lowepro (Slingshot 300AW ) bag.

Instead of camera snapping to a tripod, I have tripod snapping to the bag. Now I have a secure (hope) and easily detachable tripod with my bag:
